Wesley Patton grew up in a diverse, nurturing environment in Southern California where love and creativity was all around him. "My Dad, who I consider my greatest musical influence, would tell me all the time that I would not truly appreciate my own music until I learned to appreciate someone else’s, so I endeavored to learn to play every style I could!”
Wesley began playing piano at age 5 and took guitar lessons years later under the instruction of his Uncle, former “Basie Band” member Trombonist, Herbert “Moon” Mullins. Playing both instruments though his formative years; Wesley graduated Gardena High School in 1982 as Head Drum Major and Trumpet Captain. He also served two years in the LA All City Marching Band and Drill team as first trumpet.
Over the years Wesley has performed in countless festivals, balls and special events all over America, traveling on tour domestically and abroad, including the lavish Catalans, and has had the great privilege to work with and for some of the most successful and visible entertainers on earth, such as Mr. Luther Vandross, the incomparable Stevie Wonder, gospel great Rev. Patrick Henderson, Oscar nominated actress Dyan Cannon, Chanté Moore, Tina Yothers, Janice Marie Johnson of A Taste of Honey, Bobby DeBarge, R&B Legends duo Yarbrough & Peoples and the list goes on.
Today Wesley serves as a worship leader in Dallas, Texas. In addition to his time as a producer, session player, arranger and musician he shares his talents with other upcoming, aspiring musicians. Wesley states that: “There is nothing I can think of that’s more fulfilling than to sit down with my guitar and my voice and share the gift of music to help lighten someone’s load.
It’s my heart’s desire to serve the hurting and share my God-given gifts believing a simple philosophy, i.e., that life is nothing more than a series of decisions and that you, as a individual decide who and/or what you become in this life!"
With this in mind, Wesley is poised to inspire and challenge hearts and minds and to motivate diverse audiences everywhere for years to come.
