Wesley grew up in a diverse environment he started playing piano at age 5 "My Dad used to tell us that we could not appreciate our own music till we learned to appreciate someone else’s”! Soon after that began guitar lessons under the instruction of his uncle former “Basie Band” member Trombonist Herbert “Moon” Mullins playing both instruments though his formative years graduating Gardena High School in 1982 as Head Drum Major, Trumpet Captain and two years in the LA All City Marching Band and Drill team as first trumpet.
Over the years Wesley has performed in countless festivals, on tour, lavish Catalans and Balls and special events all over America and has had the great privilege to work with and or for, some of the most successful and visible entertainers on Earth, such as Mr. Luther Vandross, the incomparable Stevie Wonder, Gospell great Rev. Patrick Henderson, Oscar nominated Actress Dyan Cannon, Chant’e Moore, Tina Yothers, Janice Marie Johnson (A Taste of Honey), Bobby Debarge and the list goes on…
Today Wesley serves as music director for Heritage Church in Dallas Texas (www.heritagechurchdallas.com) who in addition to his time as a session player, arranger and musician also spends a good deal of his time sharing his talents with those in need (“There is nothing I can think of that’s more fulfilling than to sit on the edge of someone’s bed with simply my guitar and my voice and then to share the gift of music to help lighten someone’s load”) and soon also in detention centers sharing his God given gifts and his philosophy that life is nothing more than a series of decisions and that you, as a individual decided who and or what you become in this life!
Wesley with this in mind is poised to inspire and challenge the hearts, minds and to motivate diverse audiences everywhere for years to come.
